Moringa (Moringa oleifera) is a fast-growing tree of the family Moringaceae, native to the Indian subcontinent. It has been praised for its health benefits for thousands of years and are among the real Superfoods. Although it is native to India it is now also growing in abundance in the Amazon Rainforest where climate and soil conditions are very favourable. It is very rich in healthy antioxidants and bioactive plant compounds. It is also high in dietary fiber and is gluten free.
So far, scientists have only investigated a small part of the many reputed health benefits. However, the properties of the Moringa plant in the medical and pharmacological fields are already well known. The reason why the spotlight is on this special plant, placing it at the center of the interest of the scientific community, is the discovery of the presence of anti-tumour substances in it, particularly active in the prevention and treatment of this disease. It can, rightly, be defined a ‘prodigious’ plant as it contains an incredible concentration of substances beneficial to health and whose continuous use can represent a formidable panacea for maintaining optimal conditions of many of our body’s functions. The Moringa, in fact, is a natural supplement that can easily enrich every diet thanks to the presence of all 9 essential amino acids, 27 vitamins, almost 50 different antioxidants and many mineral salts. What makes the Moringa even more important and scientifically relevant is the fact that some studies are focusing on its anti-cancer properties due to the presence of high concentrations of isothiocyanates and glucosinsolates metabolites. This would make this plant fundamental not only for prevention, but above all for the treatment of cancer in association with other treatments.

Nutrient Dense. Moringa oleifera is very nutritious. Almost all parts of the tree are consumed or used as ingredients in traditional herbal medicines. As an export product it is sold in powder form, which is the most efficient way of preserving all the nutritious qualities of the plant parts. 3,5 ounces - 100 grams - of Moringa contains e.g. 25 grams of protein, 159% of Vitamin B16 RDA (Recommended Daily Allowances), 159% of Vitamin C RDA, 322% of iron RDA, 79% of riboflavin (B12) RDA, 189% of Vitamin A RDA and 132% of magnesium RDA.
Antioxidant Rich. Moringa is rich in antioxidants that act against free radicals in all body parts. High levels of free radicals may cause oxidative stress, which is associated with chronic diseases like heart disease and type 2 diabetes. In addition to Vitamin C and beta-carotene, these include quercetin, a powerful antioxidant that may help lower blood pressure. Chlorogenic acid, which may help moderate blood sugar levels after meals to avoid serious health problems like diabetes.
Lowers Blood Sugar. Moringa can lead to reduced blood sugar levels and is therefore potentially useful for people suffering from diabetes type 2, but more research is needed before any solid recommendations can be made.
Immune System Booster. Moringa can reduce inflammation, which is the body's natural response to infection or injury. It's an essential protective mechanism but may become a major health issue if it continues over a long period of time. In fact, sustained inflammation is linked to many chronic health problems, including heart disease, cancer and IBD/IBS (e.g. Crohn´s & Ulcerative Colitis).
Promotes Health Heart Function. Moringa can lower cholesterol. Having high cholesterol has been linked to an increase of heart disease.
