          Standard Reforest Company

Logo Standard Reforest.jpg

The Standard Reforest Company is a privately owned reforestation company situated in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest (City of Iquitos in the Loreto Region, see map). The main objective of the company is to carry out large scale reforestation of degraded rainforest areas, according to REDD+ strategies, with precious and indigenous hardwood species on the brink of extinction (CITES listed), due to many decades of illegal over-exploitation, such as Rosewood/Palo Rosa (Aniba rosaoedora), Mahogany/Caoba (Swietenia macrophylla), Cedar/Cedro (Cedrela odorata), Cumaru/Shihuahuaco (Dipteryx micrantha), Bloodwood/Palo Sangre (Brosimum rubescens), Holywood/ Palo Santo (Bulnesia sarmintoi & B. graveolens), Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia), Kingwood/Palo Violeta (Dalbergia cearensis) and many more. The hundreds of thousands of seedlings of these species are propagated and raised in the company’s large tree nurseries. By this massive reforestation effort, the company helps to save the rich but threatened biological and etnocultural biodiversity of the Amazon Rainforest for generations to come. Of course, it also has many other benefits, such as combating the ongoing and alarmingly disastrous climate change process as living mature trees absorb enormous amounts of carbon dioxide in their trunks, branches, leaves, seeds and roots. By reforesting large and previously degraded areas in the world´s tropical rainforests the catastrophic climate change process can significantly be reversed to save our planet and all its living creatures.

Large scale reforestation is, however, an immense and costly undertaking. The Standard Reforest Company is therefore actively searching for national & international investors to support the objectives of the company for the common good and mutual benefits of all parties concerned. A variety of possible investors are envisaged. Investors who are e.g. interested in:

  • A long-term commitment for sustainable management and utilization of the planted forest resources, such as exceptional valuable timber species (Mahogany, Cedar, Rosewood, etc.) for different value-added products that abide by legal chain-of-custody principles and are certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).

  • Establishing large carbon-credit enterprises to offset GHG (Green House Gasses) emissions from big polluting national & multinational corporations.

  • Harvesting non-wood forest products, such as Rosewood oil for the incredibly lucrative perfume and cosmetic industry.

  • Other non-wood products, such as edible medicinal plants, fruits and berries (so called Amazon Superfoods).

  • NGO’s of all kinds that are keen to invest in the conservation and protection of pristine Amazon flora & fauna biodiversity habitats.

  • NGO’s concerned about the well-being of forest dwelling indigenous communities that need to have their habitats and way of life protected.

  • Any other interested parties, whether it's international development aid or serious business ventures for the benefit, directly or indirectly, of the people of the Peruvian Amazon Region.

The extracted aromatic oil of Rosewood is the main ingredient in e.g. Chanel no.5.

The illegal predatory pursuing of Rosewood has almost caused its extinction. Standard Reforest is raising hundreds of thousands of seedlings to save the species.
